Sachuest Point, RI and Newport

Ran into this guy while chasing birds on the drive to Newport.

We try to bird where ever we go and this most recent trip we were able to hit two lovely places in two different states. At Sachuest Point, RI it was kind of drippy and windy so the count was low(20 species) but the scenery was beautiful. The American Goldfinch below was one of about 50 that were scattered all through out the grass. They wouldn't hold still long enough to get a decent pic.

The wild roses and flowers were outstanding and the yellow shelled snail was one we had never seen before. If you are in Newport it is just a hop, skip, and a jump away and well worth walking the 3 mile trail. Also the Castle Hill Lighthouse is a keeper if you can find it. Our friends had a little anniversary celebration there that was quite sweet.
And i couldn't resist this angel that we found in the Newport Cemetery while walking dogs or the wave statue below in the middle of town that you can't miss.
And we did the cliff walking too.

And visited a wooden boat building school.

And ate and ate and ate and had a lovely time. See ya soon.
